Bills, Bills, Bills

The time has finally come…my roommates and I recently received our electricity bill. As the amount wasn’t too high, after having a house meeting we decided that the bill could probably be even lower. So that is exactly what we are aiming for, especially since we know the water bill is going to be the next bill coming around the corner…oh boy… :-p
To help us with lowering our bill expenses, one of my roommates put together a “10 things to do” list on how we can cut back on utility bills costs. I figured some of the tips may come in handy in your household as well, so take a minute and check it out!

10 Tips on Keeping Utility Bills Low

1.) Wash clothes in cool water
2.) Combine laundry loads. Run the washer machine only on a full load.
3.) Limit dishwasher use. Only run on a full load.
4.) Limit opening the refrigerator.
5.) Turn off lights when not in use.
6.) Don’t always turn on porch light if not necessary.
7.) Use compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) for frequently used light fixtures.
8.) Unplug electronics when not in use, including lamps, laptops, T.V., kitchen appliances, etc.
9.) When washing your hair in the shower, turn off the water when lathering.
10.) Keep showers at about 10 minutes (this may be more difficult for the ladies…but do your best to make this time) ;-)

***All of these tips may seem very tedious, but with all the tips combined you are bound to save a lot of money on your utility bills.
