Cheap date? No, I'm just a "romantic" college student.

Ok all you college lovers out there, we all know that the funds are a little low and you may not be able to afford some of the most fanciest date spots in town…BUT that is no excuse to let the “ooouuu…lala” dating moments fly right out the window!
As the colder months are slowly approaching, you may feel as if there are less “inexpensive date” opportunities, but living in a four season location just may work to your advantage. One of the first things you can do is check out a few free/inexpensive on campus events that may interest both you and your date. But if that may not be enough for you, I’ve listed a few other things that could help keep the “spice“ in your relationship. ;-)

Bone appetit.
You and your date could plan a little indoor picnic. This is a great time to get creative with a little homemade romantic food (with all of today’s internet access I’m pretty sure you can find something). For students that stay on campus and may still be on a meal plan , you can go to your local food market that takes meal plan cards and put together a few things for a picnic.

A little stroll.
Before it becomes freezing outside, this would be a perfect time to take a little stroll in the park, especially with the beautiful autumn scenery. You could even take a little food with you and have an outdoor picnic.

In town deals.
Not every campus has a local downtown, however, if you are fortunate enough to have one near you…TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT! There are many specials that go on through out the week at local restaurants. For example, here in Bowling Green, some downtown restaurants host wing night specials. And every Tuesday one of our local movie theatres sales tickets for a low price.

Game time!
Host a little game night for the two of you. The best part about games is you can even add you own little twist to it to keep things interesting and fun…maybe throw in a few bets or even some clothes ;-)

Movie.
If not looking to go out, you could stay in, pop a little popcorn and enjoy a movie night. If your still living on campus, you could catch a few movies on the movie channel in your room or if wanting to see something else, but don’t feel like going out and renting, the reference desk in your dorm usually has a large selection of movies for you to choose from.

Relax.
One way you can really show your mate that you care is by helping them to relax. If your good with messages you could light some candles, get a little moisturizer and start messaging. This may lead to a few other things…so just be cautious.

Seasonal fun.
Keeping four seasons working to your advantage, you and your date could do a few things that have to do with an upcoming holiday. For example, as Halloween is approaching, you and your date could take a trip to a local grocery store, buy some pumpkins, a few carving utensils and carve pumpkins together. Or to enhance the date even more, if you have a local pumpkin patch near, you could pick out your own pumpkins together and enjoy the outdoor festivities.
A haunted house is another option…guys this is a great opportunity to show how brave you are as your date screams and grabs your arm, then you say “its ok baby, I got you.” lol
